Research Focus

At present I use different nanoscale materials (carbon nanotubes, nanocrystalline diamonds, titanium alloys) to grow osteoblasts and plan to start growing mesenchymal stem cells on them as well to find the most suitable osteoconductive nanosurface useful for new implant coatings in orthopedics. I am interested in osteoconductivity of differently functionalized materials focusing on adhesion, metabolic activity and gene expression. I have also started project of photodynamic therapy for cancer cells using UV illuminated titanium nanotubes.
